The reason I started home boarding is because I found, when I left my own dogs in kennels, that is was loud, alien environment, not only for myself but for my dogs too. I always worried about them having enough cuddles and time spent on them and walked regularly. Each time my dogs came back they were nervous and jumpy afterwards. I now know that a lot of dogs suffer from anxiety when they are in kennels, purely from the lack of attention and from the extreme noise.
I want to give people the peace of mind that when they are away this is not going to happen to their dogs. I love dogs and enjoy the challenge and pleasure of meeting new dogs and their owners and I ensure that when your dog stays with me you go away happy in knowledge that your dog is going to be loved, cuddled, walked, looked after as you would yourself. Before leaving your dog I ask for you to fill in a questionnaire detailing as much as you can about your dog so I can make sure that I can tailor my routine to your dog’s needs. I also give you on your return a CD with all the photos I have taken, and a holiday booklet with a daily record of what your dog has been up to. I have found this an extremely positive way of bringing the owners anxieties down because you can see what they have been like and what walks they have been on, from the dog’s point of view. I am honest with this, and if it has taken them a little while to settle (some dogs do), or if they have not missed you at all, I will write it down for you to see

Previous Experience

I have had dogs for about 10years now and love them to pieces. The first dogs we had were retired Greyhounds, beautiful dogs, but as a family we wanted a dog that would be more of a challenge. I have now a 2year old lurcher which we have had from a puppy and a 6year old mongrel, who we took in from being a stray.
I started the business in April 2015 and have walked and boarded many different dog from your small chihuahua up to large Alsatians.
I wanted to do exclusive in all aspects on my work as this gives room for people with dogs with nervousness problems somewhere to take their dogs, without the worry of different dogs coming in and out all the time.

Qualifications & Training

I have a certificate in first aid which was a in-depth college course (not an hours lesson) which was with The British College of Canine Studies.
I am also working towards a diploma in Canine Care, through The British College Of Canine Studies again, to give me more knowledge and understanding of dogs.This course covers early days with mum through to differences in breed, how to meet dogs properly, basic health and nutrition, the importance of exercise and solutions to common issues. This course has equipped me with all of the information I need to get it right with your dog from day one. This qualification has enhanced my understanding and I can assure you that your dog is in good, knowledgeable hands.

Relevant Info

Woofs Away aims to provide a calm, secure, friendly environment - a home from home atmosphere - for the dog in our care. Your dog lives in the house with us as part of the family and would be allowed to sleep where ever he/she wished, yes if applicable even in our bedroom at night.
We are the only local dog boarding to provide exclusive dog boarding. In other words if you want you dog/s and only your dog/s to stay here, nobody else, just yours we can provide this service, as long as we are not already booked.
Woofs Away are the caring alternative to kennels and we offer a friendly local pet care service throughout, Wombwell, Barnsley and surrounding areas.
Entrusting your pets to someone in your absence requires a high degree of trust and Woofs Away is happy to provide references on request.
