About Me/ Company

I have worked for Adult Social Services for more than 5 years, working with older people. I specialise in dementia care in the home. I am now semi-retired and combine my love of animals (dogs, cats and horses) with my knowledge of the Care Sector.
I offer person-centered support to people in their own homes, from dog-walking to dog-sitting, but also am CRB checked and have a great deal of experience as a carer.

Previous Experience

My wife and I have owned dogs for many years, and now specialise in breeding Norwegian Forest Cats and Kittens. We take them into older peoples' houses as therapy animals to enable older people who may no longer be able to keep a pet at home to have access to an animal on an hourly basis whenever they like. This can have a very therapeutic effect for service users.

Qualifications & Training

I hold an NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care (Older People) and also an NVQ3 in Counselling.
I attained my Peer Educator Award in Dementia Care and Awareness at Bradford University in 2009, and have over 10 years' experience delivering pet therapy to older people in their own homes.
I am fully conversant with moving and handling issues, together with Health & Safety legislation.

Other Services

I offer person-centered support to people in their own homes who are finding it difficult to manage alone.
The services I can offer include any pet-related activity - I can offer a pet taxi service to vets' surgeries in the local area.
I can undertake gardening work and am happy to take older people shopping, or on trips if required.
I also offer electronic updates on elderly relatives' health and wellbeing to people who live a long distance from their relative and would appreciate this service.
