About Me/ Company

I am a responsible 20 year old dog lover.

I have had 2 dogs in the family - the first a black Labrador bitch who was brilliant and relaxed with a gentle, friendly temperament. I continued to teach her tricks/commands in her latter life which she quickly learnt. My second is a Collie x Spaniel bitch. Again, she is great but has lots of energy so am used to the active lifestyle. Her claws also need trimming regularly so I have learnt how to do this and do them myself, as well as learning about dental care.

For 2 years I attended Gainsborough & District Dog Training Club where I learnt more about different breeds and training - vet checking the dogs and observing classes. During this time, a separate group was created for the temperamental German Shephers, which required stronger training and discipline, to help their owners gain more control with them. I wasn't afraid to handle them and after a while was allowed to lead part of obedience, giving commands for heelwork.

Previous Experience

I have house-sat for a family member on a couple of occasions - for one week and two. Here I was responsible for the house and 5 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dog as well as their other pets.

I take my next-door neighbour's 8 year old Collie dog for a walk occasionally for the dog's wellbeing as I am not aware that they do. Initially I would return with a sore hand from all the pulling he'd do to sniff walls and anything else of interest. He was also scared of large vehicles driving past as he wasnt' used to the road. Now he has massively improved, walks well on the lead and understands which side of me he should be walking from 'heel'.

I also house-sit for a family at the opposite end of town, whether it be for a weekend or week, so their dogs stay in a familiar environment. I've looked after their 1 year old whippet dog a few times, including when recovering from 'the snip' so he was on restricted activity and lead walks round the garden. He now has a 5 month old whippet dog companion who I now look after too.

I don't have any formal qualifications, just life experience and a clean CRB! :)
I understand dogs' body language, personalities and boundaries.
Male or female; large or small, I'll walk them all.

Relevant Info

I am limited to my local area - Gainsborough, Lincolnshire for dog walking due to lack of transport but will go further a field to house-sit.
