About Me/ Company

I am Kate Younger. I am based in Blyth, Northumberland and have set up The Comforts of Home Pet Care, covering a 10 mile radius from Blyth.

If, like me, your pet is an important member of the family be it a dog, cat, rabbit, hamster or something a little different like a lizard, then let me care for them when you can not either because of work, holiday or family event. Your pet’s comfort is my priority.

I will visit your home at pre-arranged times to feed, clean, groom or just play with your pet.

I can administer any medications and offer ‘Newbie visits’ where I will check on the newest ‘fur baby’ member of your family.

Previous Experience

I am 40 years old and have had pets all my life and continue to do so, so I understand as a pet owner their needs and your wish for them to be cared for as you do every day.

In addition to my years as a pet owner I have studied an animal care course at Kirkley Hall College in Northumberland and I am continuing to extend my knowledge by currently studying a distance learning course in Professional Pet Care and Veterinary Practice Assistant for a Diploma.

As I am studying this course I am a student member of the International Society of Animal Professionals and once finished I will become a full time member of this Society. I also abide by the Society’s code of conduct which can be found on their website

I have also completed a Canine First Aid course through Muttamorphosis Dog Training and a Dog Whispering course, which taught me to understand how your dog is feeling.

I am also registered with the Nationwide Associates of Registered Pet Sitters (NarpsUK).

Qualifications & Training

As yo can see from my previous experience I studied at Kirkley Hall college and obtained Health and Welfare of the Advanced Certificate in Animal Care.

I am also currently studying for a Diploma in Professional Pet Care and Veterinary Assistance.

I have attended a Canine First Aid course and a six week dog whispering course.

Other Services

• Feed and Fun

I visit your home to feed and clean and can play with your pet whether it is a furry or not.

£6.00 for 30 minute visit.

• Comfort Break

I visit and let your dog out into your garden for a toilet break or for a short walk if you do not have a garden. Charged at my time rate, as above.

• Administer Medication

If your pet is ill or has a long term condition I can administer daily medication. (Not as a substitute to treatment normally carried out at a Veterinary surgery)

£3.00 to administer medication to one pet

• Newbie Visit

Do you have a new member of the family such as a puppy or kitten who needs a little more attention, entertainment, or training when you are at work?

£9.00 for a 45 minute visit.

• Pet Transport

Having trouble getting a convenient vaccination booster or groomer’s appointment? Let me take your pet.

If your pet has an appointment outside a 5 mile radius from your home address, 25p a mile is chargeable.

I am fully insured to carry animals and have a range of carriers and dog harnesses to ensure your pet is safe and secure. If your dog is medium to large I like to carry them in the rear of my estate car, which is fitted with a dog guard and a safety gate (to help prevent escape in the event of an accident).
