About Me/ Company

My name is Terry and i have been working with dogs for 17 years, Starting as a 13 year old part time kennel assistant and working from the ground up, I have been training dogs for about 7 years and started my own business just over 2 years ago, I have met some wonderful dogs and owners, I have the best job in the world and i love it.

Previous Experience

I have worked at a total of 4 kennels and with one other trainer before starting up by myself just over 2 years ago.

Qualifications & Training

Not really sure why this question is here as i assumed most people knew dog walking and dog training is un-regulated and their are no officially recognized qualifications in dog walking and dog training. Qualifications only come in to play if you are for instance a animal behaviorist or animal psychologist. The below extract is taken direct from the APDT (association of pet dog trainers) website just to verify the above information.

'At the moment Dog Trainers and Dog Training Instructor's do not (by law) have to have any specific qualifications, standards of knowledge or experience. This is being looked at by the industry now, and hopefully this will change in the future. Initially it may be 'self-regulation', but eventually it will hopefully be made law that you have to be competent and have a certain standard of knowledge before you can teach people to train their dogs.'

My own opinion on the above is simple, the industry needs to be regulated, somehow, I have not bothered with the fake diplomas ect... simply because they do not mean anything, I have experience and live on my reputation, If and when the industry becomes regulated i will then do whatever courses need to be done.
