About Me/ Company

Hi, my name is Leanne and I am the owner of Taking The Lead, which is a small friendly predominately dog walking service based in Bishop Auckland - County Durham.

I have always loved animals, especially dogs and have had many pets over the years including dogs, cats, hamsters, rabbits, birds, fish and now have two adorable guinea pigs. I gained experience in working for a dog walking company before taking the decision to start up my own. I enjoy walking dogs and care passionately about the dogs I have walked.

I offer the following services:

Dog Walking

The walking service is ideal if you work all day, or are unable to walk your dog for any other reason.

The maximum number of dogs I walk at any one time is 4. I will pick up your dog (or dogs) from your home and transport them safely to a suitable secure area to be walked for either 30 minutes or 1 hour, as agreed with you.

I always carry water and make sure the dogs have plenty to drink, especially in the summer months. After the walk your dog will be returned home, dried/paws checked and cleaned, and water bowl topped up before being left relaxed and contented to meet you on your return.

I can also text or email you directly after the walk so you know they are back home, safe and happy.

Small Animal Boarding

If you are going on holiday and would like you pet looked after why not use our rabbit and guinea pig boarding service. Hay, fresh food and water are provided but we recommed you bring your pets usual dry food as to not upset their tummies.

Pet Visits

If you are unhappy about putting your cat through the stress and upset of that trip to the cattery or don't want to palm your hamster, gerbil, reptile or fish off on the neighbours, we can provide home visits to look after your much loved pets in their usual surroundings.

During the visit I can:

Feed your pet
Provide fresh water
Clean out litter tray or cages
Give fuss and cuddles

If it is more convenient you could also book this service for your rabbits or guinea pigs instead of using the boarding service.

As part of the service we can also water your plants, move the post to one side and open and close your curtains to make the house look occupied.

Doggy Day Care

Dog day care is a great service for dogs whose owners need to leave them alone for long periods of time during the day. Your dog can spend the day with me and join me on a walk or two.

Pet Taxi Service
..........
The pet taxi service is ideal for pet owners who do not have a suitable method of transport and need to take their pets to the vets or any other destination. Your pet will be transported in my large estate car, which is fitted with secure cages, ensuring maximum safety throughout the journey.

The cost of this service will be advised on request as is dependant on the length and time of the journey required.

Holiday Service

This service is the ideal alternative to placing your dog in kennels. I will visit morning, afternoon and evening for a total of at least 1 hour which will be broken into 1 x 30 minute and 2 x 15 minute vists and can include a walk if you wish.
