About Me/ Company

St Albans Pet Services is a small, family run business providing professional yet affordable Pet Services to clients in Hertfordshire. The Company offers regular and occasional pet services which can be tailored to meet the Client's specific needs. These include: Dog Walking, Pet Feeding and Home Visits, Pet & House Sitting, Puppy Care, Dog Checks, Pet Taxi and House Security.

St Albans Pet Services provides a personalised, professional, fully insured service always giving the pet the attention and care it needs when the pet owner is not there. Services are designed around the needs of pets and not profit. A 1-2-1 service is always operated (we do not pack walk to increase our revenue) and a ‘Stay and Play’ policy is always provided. Caged vans are never used to maximise the number of dogs that are walked or pets transported as this does not benefit the animals in anyway.

Previous Experience

The company is managed by Sandra James who has been involved with animals for many years and is a volunteer for the Cinnamon Trust, a Charity for the elderly, terminally ill and their pets.

St Albans Pet Services is not an Agency or a Franchise and have no part-time workers. Their staffs are all experienced pet-owners and always operate in a caring, honest and ethical manner. St Albans Pet Services are Fully Insured and CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) checked.

Qualifications & Training

All staff are pet-owners and are Canine and Pet First Aid Qualified.

Relevant Info

All our services are flexible and can be tailored to suit the Pet Owner's specific needs: For example, if you prefer a 45 minute dog walk instead of an hour, we can accommodate you. If you are going away for the night and don't want to board your dog(s) we can visit a number of times during the day at times specified by you. For example we can visit your dog(s) first thing in the morning say at 8am to feed & water and let out in the garden, then we can visit again say every 4 hours for company and walks then a visit last thing at night, say 9pm to settle for the night.

Other Services

Dog Walking
This service is designed for owners that work all day, are unexpectedly called away from home, are elderly, disabled, hospitalised or have other commitments. At St Albans Pet Services we walk 1-2-1 just as you do. We do not pack walk to increase our revenue. Your dog receives our individual attention. However, we are able to offer a small group walk for socialisation, if requested by the Owner.

Dog Checks
Whilst you are away we can visit your home to check on your
dog(s). We can feed & water them, let them out for a toilet break, or just make a fuss. A short walk can also be included. This service is also available for elderly or ill dogs that are unable to go out for long walks. It is also ideal for pregnant mums.

Puppy Care Home Visits
If you are at work, ill or have to run errands, we visit your puppy for feeding and watering, playtime, toilet breaks or a walk around the block. We will also clean up any accidents. This can be a daily or occasional service to suit you and your puppy’s needs.

Pet & House Sitting
No need to use Kennels or Catteries! Your pets can be looked after in their own home.
If you are going away for a period of time and require someone to look after your pets and house then we offer a 24 hour live-in service. If you are going away for the day or overnight then we offer a 12 hour sitting service and for shorter absences we can look after your pets on an hourly basis.

Small Pet Feeding & Home Visits
This service is designed for small caged animals such as hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, mice, ferrets, rats, birds, fish, reptiles etc. This can be on a daily basis if you are at work all day or for a period of time if you are going away and require someone to tend to your pets and your house.

Cat Feeding & Home Visits
Our low cost alternative to catteries helps reduce stress allowing your cat to stay at home and relax whilst you are away. We can visit your cat once, twice a day or more for feeding, grooming, administering of any medication, changing of litter tray etc. We will of course, spend time with your cat giving it contact and lots of fuss and attention.

Pet Taxi
If you are unable to drive or don't have a car we can take your pets for their veterinary or grooming appointments or wherever they need to go and then bring them home again.

Home Security
As well as caring for your pets, as part of our Home Visiting or Sitting Service we will give your home a 'lived in’ appearance' which acts as a deterrent to would-be-criminals. We do not wear uniforms or drive marked cars. You do not, however, need a pet to benefit from our Visiting or Sitting services. We welcome interest from those who simply require peace of mind whilst on holiday.
