About Me/ Company
Pets Homes & Gardens, Huntingdon and St. Neots is run by Erica van Manen, who has had a real passion for animals ever since she was a child. Over the years she has gained extensive work experience with animals, ranging from work in a kennel or at a farm for endangered farm animals to internships as assistant zookeeper in a zoo in Michigan during the summer holidays. In addition, two guide dog puppies for the blind have been socialized by Erica, and both have become successful assistance dogs. Almost needless to say she has always been trusted with the care of dogs in her neighbourhood in addition to her own dog. "Animals are my passion, so caring for pets on a personal and professional level is just my second nature" according to Erica.
After finishing high school, Erica has obtained a B.Sc. Honours degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare at Hartpury College. She also has an M.A. degree in Wildlife Documentary Production from Salford University. She has worked for Hearing Dogs for the Deaf in the UK, the largest no-kill animal rescue centre in the USA, as well as boarding kennels, veterinary centre and dog day care. She has also participated in many animal research projects in the UK and the US, and even as far away as Madagascar.
With so much experience in different areas related to animal behaviour and welfare, as well as her professional education and her strong passion for animals, it was an obvious step for Erica to join the successful Pets, Homes & Gardens group: "I know from experience how difficult it can be to leave your beloved pet behind, so I want pet owners to rest assured their pet receives the best possible careâ€.
