About Me/ Company

My name is Louisa. I have always been passionate about animals, having had many animals in the family over the years. After completeing University I set about starting my own business, Pawsome Petcare in July 2014. As the owner of 5 cats, 4 dogs, 4 rats, a rabbit and a pigeon! I am fully aware of how much care and love animals require, and the need for pet care services- live in house sitters in particular! Pawsome Petcare offers various services such as dog walking, individual dog walking, house sitting, pet taxi services, dog and cat home care and small animal boarding. Please do not hesitate to ask if there is anything else you would like to know about my experience and qualifications, as a pet owner myself I know how hard it is to relinquish such a big responsibility, but I hope to make you feel as comfortable!

Previous Experience

At the age of 12 I began volunteering at my local RSPCA, walking as many dogs as i could every sunday. This gave me a vast amount of experience of different dog breeds and personalities as well as learning how to handle dogs that pull/do not like other dogs/fearful/not used to being on leads etc.which I continued to do for 5 years including Fostering and doing work experience up there.
For two years I worked one day a week and regular extra days at an outdoor all year round dog daycare centre. This included supervising and entertaining a number of dogs that can be up to around 20 each time. As well as this, I had the added responsibility of running two puppy socialisation hours which included speaking with owners and providing advice and guidance to them, in particular first time puppy owners. From this I have learnt a lot more about dog to dog interaction, play and differences in breed and personality of each dog.
Alongside this I have tried my hand at flyball, obedience, search and rescue with my dogs below and for the past year I have been doing some admin work for an amazing charity, Pro Dogs Direct, which primarily fosters out all of the dogs they rescue-if you are interested in offering another dog a home please feel free to ask!
I have house sat multiple times in the past (references can be found on my website), trying my best to keep to the daily routine of the owner, so not to stress the animals out too much. I do not charge dependant on the amount of animals and I am happy to take on any sort/ amount.
I have tried hard to ensure I have a large amount of experience with a large variety of animals right from your usual dogs and cats, down to livestock and handrearing wild baby birds.
I am competent administering any medication that may be needed,as well as capable of relevent first aid i.e bandages learnt through my BSc honours degree in Animal Management and I am happy handling the more 'grumpy' animals that may not be agreeable with their medicinal needs.
From personal experience, as the owner of a fear aggressive collie, grumpy 21 year old cat, Jack Russell and Chihuahua that bark non stop at anything and everything! I know it can be quite difficult to entrust someone with your pet when they may have a few issues, but I am confident in handling behavioural issues i.e aggression, fear, pulling, seperation anxiety, barking etc. and I am happy to help in any way I can.

Qualifications & Training

After completing my GSCE's and A levels I began a Bsc honours degree Animal Management at Writtle College. The course taught me a lot more about the welfare and care of various types of animals, including working with the more unusual pets such as sheep, cows, pigs, etc.

Relevant Info

I have held full clean driving license for 4 years
My van is fully insured, MOT'd and fully equipped with fitted dog crates for transportation.
I am fully ensured under my business which i am happy to provide proof of, as well as my qualifications if you would like peace of mind.
