Dear Potential Client,
Firstly,to help gain a picture of my experiences of dogs in my life I will provide these in story form.
My first experience in rearing,looking after and training was with a Fox Terrior which I had acquired as a puppy from my secondary school fair - won in a raffle! Upon taking him home I managed to persuade my parents to be able to keep the pup.I proceeded for the next few years to care for,oh, his name? Go on, guess. Guess again. Yes, Raffles - What else? I looked as I after Raffles but then had to go to Teachers' College only to be home on the odd weekends and during the holidays, leaving my father to look after Raffles in between times.
Previous Experience
Having found lodgings while attending Teachers' College the next experience was a cocker spaniel who was on the premises where I boarded.After a few months I had the use of a caravan situated at the back of the house.Daniel, the cocker spaniel,spent a lot of time encoutering me outdoors and I spent time with him,walking him and feeding him.
After a few years teaching in New Zealand I travelled to England by ship.
My first five years in London were spent in lodgings where the landlord and his wife lived downstairs. They owned an alsation, Lexi. who I managed to get along with quite readily. But the space for such a big dog was insufficient to provide the proper exercise Lexi needed. In sympathy with his requirement I began to take him out for a walk and a run at the local park to help run off all that pent up energy.
My next experience, at the place I was staying at, was of a doberman, Maiden, who was in the same position as Lexi and I did the same thing as with Lexi.
My latest experience at my lodgings in Hertfordshire where Latz,a large Japanese breed originally used for hunting. Again, Latz became a friend and I still visit occasionally and she remembers my time with her.So much so that when I do visit, Latz fetches one of her toys and brings it to have a tug-of - war with me, something I had done when I lived there and when I visit she growls to me in the tone of talking to me and I growl back in the same tone.
So much for my dog experiences.
I have given my life with dogs first, before giving details of my life as I thought it more important ,in the context of my story.
To help with the kind of person who might be walking,looking after and caring for your dog(s) here is a little about that:
I have been teaching around the world for just over 30 years. My interests are reading,photography,theatre, film, comedy,and writing.(I am presently writing some material looking to publish eventually.)
As you have gathered from my story I am originally from New Zealand but now I have spent more than half my lfe in England.I have travelled extensively to most countries around the world.

In relation to other aspects I will be working towards a Dog Walkng Diploma which covers:
1) Canine Anatomy
2)Canine Form and Function(Understanding the builds of different breeds)
3)Canine (Body Language ( of various types,sizes and temperment)
4)Canine Law(Regulations and bylaws)
5)Canine First Ad
6)Canine Agression (problems of agression and phobias)
Presently, I have a CRB(Enhanced Disclosure),dated 17 March,2011
Relating to part time as Caretaker. But I will be applying for an udated one for dog walking and caring.
Insurance made out for:
1) Public Liability
2) Care, Custody, and Control
Relevant Info
In brief:
My approach to Dog(s) Walking mangement is that dog(s) need to have a leader i.e. myself.This would mean seeing me as their leader.
I would be strict/firm about this.
Where familiar commands have been established for the dog(s) by the owner I would familiarise myself with these and continue with what the dog(s) are used to.
Where these are not present I would be prepared to use my own commands and would need to have these 'installed' before setting off for any walking/caring.
Apart from the discipline,once established, I am otherwise friendly with the dog(s) and play any games that might enhance their development and any instincts they have as part of their make up.
