Requirements

Dog Walker

- Want dog(s) to be walked alone

Details:

Hello. My name is Dawn and I’m looking for someone to walk my 2 lively Lurchers for an hour a day, alone (i.e with no other dogs) Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 1 30 to 2 30. I leave their lunch in the fridge which is to be put down after the walk and the radio is left on for them during the day until I get home from work. I will ask that a note be left on how they have behaved on the walk, etc and I will leave you one in the morning if there were/are any problems the night before. Having a knowledge of the breed would be an advantage too!

Charlie is a foxhound/collie and is around 5 yrs old. Oscar is a greyhound/whippet and is around 1/ 2 yrs old. They are both rescues from Dogs Trust, are micro chipped and register with Pet log. All jabs etc are up to date, and they have no ongoing illnesses.

Charlie is the more dominant of the two, pulling a bit and wanting to ‘scent mark’ everywhere! But is getting better with the pulling, as long as commands and actions are followed by the walker (my previous one found he only pulled a little bit with her but was very responsive to command). He is never let off the lead unless I am there as he will chase and want to dominate other dogs, sometimes getting a bit overly aggressive, so meeting other dogs, on or off lead, is usually a no-no unless he knows them or you are confident enough to handle Charlie!! He will trust you over time and is very people/child friendly (he would make a rubbish guard dog, lets just say that!) Charlie has a muzzle due to his dominance but only wears when off lead. Charlie likes his treats and responds when used with commands. He sits and gives paw.

Oscar is the more submissive one, except when there is a cat/squirrel/pigeon that needs chasing! He is still quite ‘puppy-like’ sometimes in his manner, but is learning slowly. Oscar doesn’t usually pull (unless as before there is something that needs chasing!) He does however like to rear, bark, pull, when another dog is nearby, as all he wants to do is play, but it can come across as aggressive to some, as he does rear up like a dancing pony! Oscar too has a muzzle, but again only wears it when off lead as can get a bit ‘bitey’ during play! He is good with people/kids but due to his background is slightly nervous and wary around ‘new’ people. Again Oscar will trust you over time, as long as routine is kept to, he may be a little reserved about taking treats but will eventually. He does sit and give paw but may not at first.

Think that’s my two in a large nutshell! If you need to know anything more please ask. I will want them to meet you before you start and maybe take a walk with us if you have the time.

At the moment I can only offer £9 ph for both dogs due to certain personal issues, please be assured that may change after time and if we are happy with your service J

Thank you
Dawn, Charlie and Oscar
