Details:
Hey,
Lola is 1y.o. mastiff cross, chipped and about to be spaded. Despite appearances or perhaps because of them, is a very tame, well mannered dog. Of course you'd be able to judge that for urself as after all, its only so much u can trust and expect from me, her owner, right? I've had her since she was 6 weeks, took her from the street as this not-very-nice-looking dude was waiting outside a chicken shop with like, 6-7 puppies. I approached to pet them and fell in love with her kind, bright green eyes. Needless to say I got her right then and there, couldn't bear the thought of what might have been her future otherwise.. As for the breed itself, its mostly a mixture of ignorance, the media and a few assholes out there that do preffer to make money from the pain of animals rather than have a 9-5. The part of the breed in her that scares people, if researched, wld show gentle creatures bread innitially for companionship, which at one point were actually going by the name of ' nanny-dogs' as they were often used for that, to look after the children. However, I do understand that over the years and with the help of said assholes, a lot of things have chnged. Same could be asserted about humanity itself, is it not? In my experience, its the small breeds i.e. jack-russels, who tend to be much more vociferous and agressive, precisely because of their breed/height. Its a dog-genetics thing. However, because people's misconceptions at times she comes from the park all depressed for not having played with any dogs. Sad. Than again, it happens amongst humans, being overlooked or ignored because of social class, appearances and our own preconceptions so why wldn't it happen to animals...
Sorry for the sermon! In one word, no she's not aggressive. Sometimes I wish her to be a bit more, you know imposing, because she tends to be too mellow and friendly on the streets and she'll just go with anyone that smiles at her. She's friendly and thinks she's human, has her own room with her own sofa (although my bed it still a big favourite..) and understands english.. :o) I spoil her, but as the trainer said, she's easy to spoil, she's so good!
Im asking about ur ability rather than desire to deal with big dogs because she's strong. She's 36 kilos already, she's learning not to pull as much, but requires a 'strong' hand on the leash. That's all. I wouldn't want you to fly behind her..
At this point, Im thinking about max one hour per day, perhaps twice a week. This whole thing is an experience for us as we've never been away from her more than a few hours at the time. However, depending on how things go, who knows...we could do eventually with a vacation by ourselves lol...
So, this is it. Depending on how it goes, we'll take it from there. We're a household of artists? that sounds too conceited but yeah, Visual Communications, Fine Art and Photography with a BA in Printing (that's my girlfriend) and Psychology with a keen interest in anything she does lol - that's me. She's currently exhibiting in Geneva and Im alone with the pup that's why I could do with some help with her. At times im too busy for visits to the park and it breaks my heart that she misses out on play-time.
I hope this works for you. Take care now,
