Details:
I am just trying to get ideas of who is available for next year's holiday, as we are going away for 1 week in June and also will be going away in December for around 1 week.
We have never left our dog before for longer than a weekend, when a family member stays.
So, it will be a very careful and deliberated decision on who we choose to stay in our house and look after Pecan. Please do not be offended if I do not think you are suitable for whatever reason. I am simply doing the best for my dog and for our peace of mind.
Details; Pecan is 7 years old, a cross Jack Russell Terrier, we rescued her 5 years ago from Dogs Trust.
She is very friendly and trusting and loves cuddles and sleeping.
She is also quite nervous, especially of loud bangs (fireworks, thunder, explosions, motorbikes etc) and also can be nervous around other dogs, especially bigger ones.
However she has quite alot of energy and is great fun and loves playing with squeakies and pulleys.
We do not walk her off lead at all, as her recall is not good.
She is no trouble in the house and will happily lie on the bed or sofa for hours on end and not ask you for anything - except cuddles!
If possible, the person who would house/pet sit would not leave her alone for more than 2 hours at a time and not alone at all in the evenings, so I am looking for someone either not working/ can work from home or who is retired or does this as a living.
The person would need to be patient and calm.
I would like to see reference and details of experience with animals.
Aside from the holiday sitting, of which there will be more over the years, I would like Pecan to get to know the person well, so would also if possible, be looking for the person to be Pecan's dog walker/visiter on days when I am not at home, so the person would preferably need to be local or able to get to Oldbury (near Bearwood, West Midlands) easily.
