We're looking for somebody to sit/walk our dog several times a week whilst I'm at work.
Although primarily a family pet, she has a strong working pedigree and does attend gundog classes. In order to help us train her we need to find somebody sympathetic to her training needs. We wouldn't be asking you to train her but we have certain rules such never running after her or playing chase. At the moment we are also not allowing fetch games whilst we work on some retrieval issues. It might sound a bit strange but it is important we have a good relationship with you so we can ask you to do or avoid certain things and feel confident that you are following our requests. As a result knowledge of working dogs is a real bonus.
I would not describe her as an easy dog and she does require a firm hand at least initially but she's not badly behaved. She has a good level of basic training as long as you are firm and clear with her and her recall isn't bad but we'd encourage you to walk her on the lead, at least at first. Essentially, she's an energetic and playful dog but very gentle and loving. I have no concerns about her being around other dogs or young children. She lives with cats but will chase them (one of the things you would need to be on top of). She can be left in a secure area or crate for several hours if required so trips to Tesco or to pick up children from school would not be a problem.
Ideally I'd like somebody who can take her to their own home three days a week but I may be able to negotiate this for the right candidate. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
