Details:
I am in an unexpected and urgent situation and desperately seeking help so I can keep my dog. I am registered disabled and on 25th November 2011 I may have to leave my home for an unspecified amount of time - probably between a few weeks to 6 months. I can't take my dog with me and I haven't got anyone to leave him with so I will have to give him up to a rescue centre where he may be put down. Is there someone who would be willing to look after him in their own home for me? I desperately don't want to lose him as I live alone and he's become my companion and has made a big difference in my life since I got him.
He's a 6 month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy. He's a very loving dog, friendly, intelligent, and interested in everything. He socialises well with other dogs and loves human company. He isn't fully housetrained yet but knows how to go on paper. He knows half a dozen basic commands and seems to pick things up quite quickly. He can be left alone for periods of time and overnight with no problem. He may whine or 'talk' for a short time to try to get your attention, but soon settles down. He has a fascination for brooms and brushes and regards them as prey that must be subdued. He's full of energy and loves running off lead in the park. He comes back when called. His play can get a bit boisterous and he still 'mouths' when he gets over-excited. He's fully vaccinated, wormed etc.
I live in the Waltham Cross area, so am looking for someone who would be willing to collect him from there or alternatively he could be collected from Thurrock. I could deliver him to you if you live within a reasonable distance of either of those places. I won't find out how long I have to be away from home for until 25th November, so I would need the sitter to contact me at least by the 21st Nov so I could meet them beforehand. On the 25th/26th, I will have someone contact the sitter to let them know how long they will be needed for and to arrange collection of my dog as soon as possible. Being as I am on disability benefits, I can't afford to pay kennels' fees but I would obviously make a payment to the sitter to cover food costs. Not knowing how long it will be for, I will pay the sitter a set amount upfront and if it turns out to be a longer time period, I will give them another payment at the end to cover the extra time they kept him for.
This is a genuine request. Please, only kind, genuine people respond, if you are prepared to take him on for an unspecified time and you are prepared to keep him on for several months if required. I don't have anyone else to turn to.
