Details:
Doogie is a (nearly) 9 year old Border College (neutered male). We live in Letchworth Garden City and I'm looking for a reliable and experienced Home Dog Boarder (no kennels please) for off and on stays.
Some of the time Doogie might want to visit for 1-2 days at a time, at other times it might be for a week or 2 weeks. The longest visit (very infrequently) is for around 3 weeks.
Doogie is a happy and healthy dog. He has plenty of energy, but is also good in the house. He is a collie, however, and has some of the common collie personality traits. For example, he isn't good for kennels because like most collies he needs stimulation, and so the company of people will be happiest for him. I also tend to supervise Doogie when it comes to smaller dogs, because I think he might have a bit of a phobia of small dogs, based on a few small dogs that attacked him when he was a puppy (he never forgot).
The best dog boarder (in my view), is someone who understands Border Collies, and is an experienced dog owner and boarder. If you have a large property, and particularly if you have another Border Collie, you might be close to perfect! But Doogie has also been really happy staying with people who don't have their own dog, and just want to 'borrow' a dog for a few days!
Doogie loves other Border Collies and for a nearly 9 year old, he is a playful fellow when he finds a good mate to run around with.
The good news is that I also have a large property and a Border Collie, and I've been quite keen on finding opportunities to get Doogie accustomed to having another dog in the house from time to time. So if everything goes well, I would also be willing to reciprocate every now and then, and look after your dog in my house.
I hope this information is helpful. Look forward to hearing from you!
Elena (and Doogie)
