Dog Daycare
Details:
Hello, we have three young neutered male dogs who need looking after while we go on holiday for 2 and a half weeks in January. We would also like to find someone regular who could help us out with the odd day/overnight or weekend stay. We will consider either boarding in someone's own home (not kennels), or a house sit in Margate.
We are happy to travel to most parts of Kent to drop them off. Our dogs are not destructive or particularly naughty and for the most part they laze about all day between walks and meals, but they do take up a lot of room and need an hour's off-lead walk twice a day to keep them relaxed and happy. They are used to sleeping in their own armchairs upstairs as well as their own beds downstairs. They are all rescue dogs, and are cheerful and well-balanced.
Arthur is a 3 year old Irish wolfhound lurcher cross so he is big. He loves his food, his tummy rubbed, his walks, stealing and chewing balls, sleeping all day in the comfiest spot in the house and playing boisterously with his 'brothers'. He has a habit of lying in muddy puddles when he's hot. He is easy going with changes in routine as long as he's got a good ring side seat. He is clever and obedient but
he doesn't like rain, and he sometimes barks at things with wheels (skateboards, bicycles, scooters but not cars) and he is a bit nervous of noisy children.
Elvis is a 4 year old Saluki cross and he is medium sized like a smaller greyhound. He eats well but is more discerning than the others. He loves cheese and certain favourite treats but is not easily bribe-able with food. He loves his long walks, sprinting around like a mad fool, playing chase with other dogs, balls and crows. He likes to take dips in rivers and the sea. He has a habit of charging full speed at other dogs to say hello but is not aggressive. He is really friendly and confident, but he is a bit of a homebird. He is fine if we take him on holiday to Wales for example, but always seems relieved to be back home. When we leave him overnight with someone else he can go a bit quiet, grumpy and sulky. He was in kennels for a long time before he came to live with us and once howled all night when we boarded them for one night, so that's why we don't want kennels for them. He can be a bit stubborn, but he likes to stay with his pack, so turning and walking away from him soon brings him back to your side.
Charlie is a 2 year old Lurcher Saluki Whippet ??? cross but he isn't as skinny as he should be for that breed! He is slightly shorter than Elvis. He lives for food, sleep and cuddles. He loves toys, balls, bones, plastic bottles, slippers and going out for walks. He'd love to catch a squirrel one day but chances are very slim. He has a habit of following Elvis to say hello to other dogs and can get a bit excited. He is affectionate and obedient but does not respond well to a harsh tone of voice. He can be a bit shy with new people but will soon be snuggling up on the sofa with his head on a lap when he becomes more familiar. He copes very well with change and new environments if he is with his 'brothers' or familiar places and faces.
