About Me/ Company

I've always loved animals and have had pets of all sorts since I was a very small child. (as well as goats, geese and chickens when my own children were young.) I've been home educating my children for the last 20 years and now that my youngest is 14 I'm looking for a way to begin working again while at the same time staying close to home for at least the next couple of years while I'm still teaching him.All the family really love animals so I feel this would be a fulfilling job that would add to rather than detract from family life and I think everyone would be able to offer all sorts of fun and attention to any pet who lodged with us.
We have a lovely affectionate dog of our own who loves company(as well as a beautiful cat and rabbit)so one of my motivations is possible extra fun for him. My son and I make time to play games and teach tricks to Marley every day and if our visitor enjoys these sort of games too we'd be all too delighted to try playing any his or her owner recommends.If I was looking after an older quieter animal though I feel we'd be sensitive enough to her/his needs to give gentler attention when needed.
As my son is home all the time he's always happy to take care of Marley in another room if I need to give full attention to a pet guest or to give them time to just be quiet and relax alone.
I feel I'm good at empathising with animals and interpreting their needs and I'd enjoy trying to give the best possible time to a pet who may be missing his /her owner and home and would love trying to make their stay extra special.

Previous Experience

I've had lots of experience working with animals and children.
I've done dog-walking, dog-sitting, fed cats in their own home and looked after them here. I've looked after small animals, birds and farm animals.
We used to have goats,geese and chickens of our own when my children were small and presently we have a Collie cross, a ginger Tom and an angora lionhead rabbit.
My last job was a fortnight ago when I looked after a beautiful malamute for the weekend.
