About Me/ Company

Indigo Pet Services is a fully licenced and insured pet care service for dogs and small animals. While you are out during the day or away on holiday, you can rest assured that your pet is receiving the best possible care. I am based in Chiddingfold on the Surrey/Sussex borders, where there are a huge variety of walking options. I love all dogs and I have experience caring for all sorts of different breeds! I am lucky to have 27 acres of my own land, with two fully secured pens (approx 1/2 of an acre each), which we have developed to keep our daycare and boarding dogs entertained in between walks. Just recently, I have also taken on my parents to help with running the business, so that dogs are never left unattended.

I have been brought up with animals my whole life and have always dreamt of being able to work with them on a full-time basis. I currently have three of my own dogs and I spend as much of my spare time with them as I possibly can! I have been competing in agility for the last six years and this has quickly become a huge part of my life. I have been teaching agility on a part-time basis over the last three years and my dogs currently compete at grades 5, 6 & 7.

Previous Experience

I have been teaching dog training classes for approximately 5 years now, but have only recently moved into the pet services industry on a full time basis. My experience as a dog trainer has proved invaluable for the dogs in my everyday care, and I make a real effort to get to know every dog as an individual and I love to find out what motivates them. I like to do some light 1-2-1 training with each dog, to form and maintain a bond between us, and as a result the dogs in my care all seem very happy and relaxed together. I already have a number of regular clients and am loving every minute!

Qualifications & Training

Lauren Langman Accredited Agility Instrutor (LLAAI) Parts 1, 2 & 3: These courses cover a number of topics in detail, including:
Effective group training
Foundation work
Learning styles and application
121 coaching
Safety considerations
Behavioural modules.

Agility Club Accredited Judge Course: This course qualifed me as an agility judge in accordance with the Kennel Club and was fundamental for teaching me about the running of agility shows and the safe negotiation of all equipment used in agility classes.

Breed Conformation and Construction Course: This course went into great detail about body conformation for a balanced dog, which taught me how to assess the construction and angulations of a dog's conformation. This then enables me to identify any 'problem' areas a dog may have. Before any physical training commences, it is important to know how your dog is constructed and how this may affect their balance and ability to complete certain exercises. A well balanced dog will be able to use it's body more effectively and will be less susceptable to injury.

Canine First Aid: I have recently undertaken a canine first aid course, so that I am prepared for any scenarios which may occur at home or out on a walk.

Training Plans: I am currently enrolled onto a number of IMDT training courses, with a goal to gain IMDT membership within the year. I am also looking to become a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) in the near future.

Relevant Info

Off-lead walking will take place on our private fields, or at one of the numerous dog-friendly areas around Chiddingfold, set well away from any busy roads. Prices include collection from your home and drop off after about an hour of walking. I have a variety of walking options to ensure I am able to accommodate your dog, including off-lead/on-lead walking or group and individual walks. Dogs can also be towelled down if they are particularly muddy on return from their walk. I carry full insurance and look after all dogs in my care as if they are my own, so you can rest assured that your dog is receiving the best possible care. I will also do my best to maintain any training whilst your dog is on a walk with me, so that they don't get into any bad habits!

After initial contact, I will try to fit in a home visit to meet your dog before our first walk. This is so that I can discuss your requirements in more detail and collect information about your dog, including any behavioural issues. I don't wear company branded clothing and my van does not display any signage, so nobody will be alerted to the fact that your home may be empty when I arrive.

Home visits can be offered as either a one-off or regular service and could be for cats or small animals whilst you are out for the day or on holiday. I can also offer home visits for dogs if you are out for the day and simply need somebody to check in on them.

If you are out for the day and do not want to leave your dog at home alone, I can offer a doggy day care service on an ad hoc or regular basis. For all day care bookings, I will collect your dog from your home between 9am-11am and will then return them to you between 4pm-6pm. Collection and delivery times may vary each day, but will always be between these time slots. Your dog will be in my care all day and a standard booking will receive two walks each day and feeding as required.

I have capacity to board up to 6 dogs per night at home with me, where they will be able to enjoy all of their home comforts when you are away. If required, I can collect your dog from your home and drop them back home when you return. During the day, I will try to stick to any routines your dog has become used to, in order to minimise any disruption to your dog.

If you are planning a trip away and are concerned about leaving your house unattended for any period of time, or perhaps have a pet which is particularly sensitive to change, you may be interested in arranging a 'house-sitter' to take care of your property and stick to any routines that your pet has become accustomed to. I have occasional availability for house-sitting, although this is limited so it is usually best to book as far in advance as possible. I do not bring my own dogs and I will never invite anybody else into your home. It is possible to arrange some household jobs around your booking, but these must be agreed at the time of booking. I also have full insurance to be able to offer this service.
