About Me/ Company

Hello there, we started Holiday Caretakers a couple of years ago. We began property sitting, dog walking and dog sitting for people by 'word of mouth'. Since then we decided to raise our profile a little. I am Steve, Colette is my daughter and Lyn is my partner. We are all pet and animal lovers. We have looked after and cared for animals and pets for many years, from terrapins, hamsters and guinea pigs, to cats and dogs and chickens. We currently love 2 Shitzus, 1 Daschund, 1 Portuguese Podengo, 1 Working Cocker Spaniel, 1 Chinese Crested Powder Puff, 1 Collie, 1 Staffordshire Bull Terrier, 1 Tollie (Collie / Duck Toll Retriever) and 1 goldfish named Anyanka. We run a uniquely personal and discreet property caretaking and pet sitting company for our clients who go away for whatever reason for short or long periods. They entrust us to look after their properties and pets as if they are our own. We are fully insured and vetted.

Holiday Caretakers is a family business, we can provide a completely discreet and personal service where we concentrate on a few select clients for longer periods at a time, from a week to...well, as long as you wish. We are not an agency, our workforce is minimal, we do not employ people we have not met, or people we do not know well, and we do not take on contracts that we cannot fulfill, so there is no possibility of any double bookings, rush jobs etc. We do not advertise ourselves with logos, badges, clothing or any other means. You are guaranteed a first class discreet service where your pets have the benefit of total care and the property has the benefit of total security. Not only do we focus all of our attentions on your pets and property, we are also available on hand to carry out any reasonable jobs that you require doing whilst you are away from the property.

Previous Experience

Before establishing the business, we often volunteered to mind friends, family and neighbours pets for many years. We also foster strays until suitable homes are available. Lyn is qualified to work with horses, has owned and milked goats, shown dogs at Crufts with some success, and also competed in working trials at TDX level. Lyn has many years of veterinary experience assisting vets with various animals with different conditions and also worked in various kennels and catteries across the county of Somerset.
Steve has worked in the computing field for many years and also the security industry for several years. Colette worked in the holiday cottage and bank cleaning industry for a couple of years and has also worked for a kennel and cattery for two years. Lyn and Steve also have experience in rearing puppies from birth.
