About Me/ Company

Hello, my name is Jayne Kirby and I run Happy Pets. I am based in Buntingford, Hertfordshire. I offer a professional and reliable service within my local area. The services I offer include dog walking, pet sitting at your home and pet visits.

I set up Happy Pets after volunteering for several years at local animal rescue charities, walking their dogs whilst they waited for their new home. During this time I learnt a lot about dogs and their behaviour.

Regular exercise can result in a happy, healthy, well-balanced dog who will be a pleasure to be around when you are at home. I offer the dog walking service as either a 'one off' or on a regular basis.

After discussing your dog's behaviour in detail, I will tailor the walk to suit your dog. I always walk any new dog on its own initially, ensuring your dog receives my total attention at all times. I will only consider walking your dog with another dog if I have your agreement, and will only put him/her together with another dog who is compatible and friendly.

Meeting other dogs and people on walks is a good opportunity to develop your dog's social skills. Occasionally though, other dogs can be unfriendly. With my experience and understanding of dog behaviour, I can quickly distinguish between a dog that is friendly or aggressive.

For dog owners who are out at work all day, away from home, who are elderly or have other commitments, I can walk your dog for either 30 minutes, 45 minutes or an hour, on or off lead. Discounts will be applied for more than one dog from the same household. Please contact me for more details.

Previous Experience

I have had plenty of hands on experience with a variety of dogs and small pets.

I volunteered at animal rescue charities which involved walking their dogs and also looking after the smaller animals like rabbits and guinea pigs. I have also had many pets over the years, some of which I had to administer daily medication.

Other Services

Visits

If you have a dog that requires a visit for a comfort break, feeding or to refresh their water bowl, I can visit your dog at an agreed time.

Daycare (Saturdays and Sundays only at your home)

If you want your dog to have company throughout the day whilst you are out, I offer this service at weekends. Your dog will have plenty of exercise with long walks in the countryside. I will feed, play with and love your dog as if it were my own.

Small Animal Visits

This service is available for any small pets such as cats, rabbits, gerbils, hamsters, fish and guinea pigs. Other animals can also be considered. Visits will cover the following:-

Feeding
Cleaning out litter trays and cages
Changing water bowls/bottles
Putting out rabbits and guinea pigs into runs and checking for flystrike


Pet Sitting

When caring for your pets in your home, I will ensure they get the exercise they need and the attention they deserve.

Short Term Sitting

If you are staying away for one night or for the weekend and would like your dog to be walked, fed and to have company, I will agree the times of the visits to ensure your dog is well looked after during the day and will stay overnight giving you peace of mind.

Long Term Sitting

Should you not want to put your dog into boarding kennels and you want someone to stay at your property during your holiday, this is an alternative to the above services. I will agree times of walking and feeding regimes and will stay overnight at your property with your dog. This gives you peace of mind that your home is occupied and being looked after in your absence, and your dog has company and is being well cared for.
