About Me/ Company

My name is Struan Dewar, and as of August 2020 I am the proud new owner of Four Seasons Dog Walking.

After years of playing rugby professionally, and then retraining to become an Accountant, I decided to take the plunge and follow my real passion – dogs. My love for dogs started young, growing up with a huge huskie called Harvey (and a menagerie of other animals!) who I spent countless hours with teaching new tricks and getting chased around.

In 2017 my wife and I adopted our own rescue dog called Skye which reignited my desire to work with animals, and although I did not appreciate it at the time, has led me to where I am today. Skye had a very challenging early life and came to us with specific needs, including a fear of people and unfamiliar dogs, anxiety and an extremely high prey drive. Through working with Skye I have learnt a lot about dog psychology and behaviour, which has inspired me to go down this new career path and pushed me to start formalising my learning through accredited courses.

In Spring 2020 I began the process of taking over Four Seasons Dog Walking from the original owner Andrea Beveridge. As part of this process Andrea has kindly been mentoring me, sharing her invaluable knowledge and extensive experience about working with dogs over the past 15 years. I have also shadowed Andrea to learn more about pack behaviour, canine first aid, and life as a dog walker in Edinburgh.

Included in the Four Seasons Approach is ensuring I have relevant policies in place to protect customers, and I also currently hold the following:
Edinburgh Council Dog Walking License
Fully insured
Disclosure Scotland
As well as the above, I am committed to continuous professional development and am awaiting completion of courses in Canine First Aid and Working Safely with Dogs.
