About Me/ Company
We offer a wide range of services and packages to suit your individual requirements. Bookings can be occasional, daily, weekly or monthly. Block bookings will receive a discounted price.
Focus Dog Walking can walk all sizes of dogs from the toy breeds, through to large breeds and giant breeds. We walk all ages of dogs from puppies to seniors and vary the length of walk/visit accordingly.
We can cater for all personality traits; friendly and outgoing, boisterous, timid/nervous, aggressive etc. Our focus is your dog, the walk/visit is personalised to your suit your pet's personality.
We can offer strenuous exercise or a gentle potter about.
After every walk or comfort break visit, dogs are readied for entering your house (paws wiped etc), fresh water given and freshened up with our dog cologne (if requested). Comment slips are left after every session and telephone calls are made where necessary.
Previous Experience
I have a life long experience with dogs. I have owned the terrier type, working type, utility type, herding type, toy type and currently own a young, large-breed hound (totally adorable and nicest natured dog in the world).
My own dogs have a had a range of personality types, dominant aggressive, nervous-aggressive, passive and playful and boisterous.
I have volunteered at a local rescue centre and fostered dogs, assessing and getting them ready for rehoming.
I was training by the Pet Care Trust to micorochip, however I do not currently offer this service.
As a youngster I worked as a kennel maid cleaning, feeding and walking large groups of dogs.
Qualifications & Training
As the owner of the business, I am a fully qualified dog groomer (full level 3 City and Guilds) and work part-time training students to groom. This requires a high level of experienced handling, empathy and understanding of dog body language and behaviour.
The qualification also requires knowledge of all breeds of dogs on the Kennel Club register, their grooming, feeding and exercise requirements. The qualification also requires knowledge of the major parasites (lifecyles etc), diseases (including incubation and symptoms) and first aid.
I undertook the lower levels of the City and Guilds also, purely for a sense of completion.
In additional to this I have completed supplimentary courses such as feeding your pet, pet first aid and training your pet.
I attend vet seminars whenever these are available and generally keep my knowledge fresh and up to date.
Relevant Info
We are fully insured for all the services we offer.
We are police checked.
We do not use vehicle signage during appointments as we feel this may inadvertently compromise the security of your house, we don't want to advertise you are out.
The entire focus of the business is your pet, we offer a flexible, totally individual approach which we feel your dog(s) deserve. We retain this individual approach throughout so if something changes with your dog(s) such as pregnancy, maturity, old age, temporary ill health we can change the type of exercise/visit to match your dog's requirements.
If you are working on a particular training aspect with your dog we can support you on this and use your commands and methods on our walks with your dog(s).
