About Me/ Company

I am Johanna, a 40+ mother and pet owner living in Gotham, Nottinghamshire. Due to family reasons, I have changed career from being Researcher studying Animal Behaviour to dog walking and training, and pet sitting. Dogs and other animals have always been my passion, and I cannot think anything I would rather do than work with animals. My fees are £12/hr and £8/30min for solo dog walk, £10/hr & £6/30min for group walks. Ten x one hour solo walks booked and paid in advance -10%. Dog daycare £17/day including an hour walk. In regard to training and behavioural advice, please contact for price details. I use only positive dog-friendly training methods.

Previous Experience

I have had dogs for over 20 years (Rottweilers, a Belgian Shepherd and a Border Terrier), and I have competed with my dogs in search, obedience and agility. Moreover, I have also volunteered as a dog training instructor. I have extensive animal husbandry and handling skills gained as an enthusiastic pet owner, whilst working as a volunteer at a dairy farm, assisting a veterinary surgeon, as a horse rider, working in a pet shop, and as a university researcher. During my work life and leisure time activities, I have provided daily care to various wild, domestic and companion animal species ranging from cattle to small insects. In addition to dogs, my family pets have included cats, budgies, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, a tarantula, fish, frogs and chicken. Due to my extensive experience, I have the confidence and skills required to handle all dog breeds and other animals.

Qualifications & Training

PhD in Animal Behaviour, 13 years of experience as Research Scientist studying animal behaviour, behavioural ecology and evolutionary biology.

7th-8th September 2013 CaDeLac Dog Training and Behaviour Instructors’ Course

Participated in numerous dog training classes, seminars and field courses in Finland, comprising instructor training, tracking, searching for people and objects in the forest, obedience, agility and protection work.

Other Services

Pet sitting; daily visits to check on your small (cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, reptiles etc.), or big (horses, sheep, goats etc.) animals while you are away. Holiday boarding at my home also available for rabbits and guinea pigs.

My fees for pet sitting visits are £12/hour and £8/30min.

I groom border terriers and other terriers requiring hand stripping at pet level. Fee £12/hour. The grooming will usually take 2-3 hours.
