Previous Experience
am very interested in following the path of a kindergarten teacher. I have always loved children, playing and working with them. My experience as a Camp Counsellor in Canada has helped me come to this conclusion. I knew I truly loved being surrounded by children when one of my 9 years old had terrible heartburn for nights on end. I would stay up with her all night cuddling her trying to see what I could do, when all she wanted was her own bed and mother.
In the last two years of Heathfield Boarding School, I would once a week go to the local mentally disabled school. It was at that time something I had never experienced before in my life. I had to play and invent games for teenagers and young adults as though they were children but at the same time making sure I did not undermine them at the same time.
I have experience in art from doing a year at Nscad Art University from experiencing many different genres of art from paint and print to wood and metal. I went far with my singing. It gave me a confidence, as a person whom I believe is very important in the teaching environment. Singing and music is one of my greatest pleasures in life. I was a top Soprano at Heathfield and I know lots of songs and of course many nursery rhymes!
I believe some of my greatest attributes that will help me in my teaching career and especially with younger children are my loves for art, music and drama. As a person my number one quality is my creativity. With those 3 attributes and my creativity all strung on together I get greatly inspired by children.
In the Autumn, I plan on and hoping to follow courses at the University of London taking Montessori courses. Taking courses to help me, to improve my greater background knowledge of looking after children.
