About Me/ Company

‘dogs at home’ offers you a service that is focused entirely on your dog’s welfare. You will have the peace of mind that your dog is being given the best possible care and attention for those times when you can’t be there.

The main area covered is south-east Lincoln, including postcodes of LN3 and LN4 (for example, Bardney, Bracebridge Heath, Branston, Canwick, Dunston, Heighington, Lincoln, Nocton, Potterhanworth, Washingborough). Other areas will be considered; please feel free to let me know.

Consultations are free whilst your requirements and your dog’s needs are discussed. For safety and security reasons, a behavioural and health assessment will form part of this, which is best taking place in your home environment.

‘dogs at home’ services include:-
dog sitting – ideal if you are going away for a weekend or longer and unable to take your dog with you; your dog will be cared for in the comfort of my own home
dog walking and visits – ideal if you are at work during the day or you are unable to give your dog the exercise it needs. Home visits are offered which is ideal for older dogs and puppies, allowing your pet to stay in the comfort of their own home when you can’t be there. Both dog walking and home visits are a great way to break up your dog’s day if they spend a lot of time on their own.
pet taxi – if you need transport to take your dog (or cat) to and from the vet or groomers.

‘dogs at home’ is a new business and so there is just me, Denise!

I have always had a passion for animals and a deep-rooted interest in their welfare. We had family dogs when I was growing up and I was always keen to be around animals and learn about them. It was not until 7 years ago that I took the opportunity to change career direction and return to University full-time and obtain a degree in Animal Science. When I graduated I worked at a local dog kennel and cattery business and left there to work for a national animal welfare charity for 5 years. I was recruited to set up a rehoming pet fostering service, using the help of volunteers. This has now become an established nation-wide service.

I have been a volunteer too, having volunteered in many animal-related areas, including the Cheetah Conservation Fund in Namibia, Twycross Zoo in Leicestershire and a PDSA shop. I enjoy many outdoor pursuits including walking my golden retriever, hiking, snowboarding and gardening.

I left the charity to set up my own business and am excited to be able to launch ‘dogs at home’. The extensive practical hands-on experience I have had, underpinned by a professional and reliable approach to my work, reinforces the focus I have on your dog’s welfare.
