About Me/ Company

INTEREST AND HOBBIES

As a hobby of mine which has been quite dominant for the past few years, is the attendance for a local drama school- Class Act. Here, I am able to interact in a warm environment with a variety of different individuals in a long session between the hours of 10 AM and 4: 30 PM on a Saturday outside of school. As well as doing regular rehearsals and shows, I have also worked backstage for the same theatre, spending my summers building and constructing large wooden sets for the theatre itself. I have assisted in varying areas of the company including the assistance in costume, set design, build and assembling which have occupied a large amount of my time. This has been a great opportunity for myself as it has allowed me to work alongside many other skilled individuals in a volunteering environment.
I have also great interests in the care of others and have participated in further volunteer work outside of the scheduled time and hours of work experience at Yarborough House. The experience has been of great help due to it assisting in the gain of patience when working with a large variety of different people all with individual needs. This is of great interest to me and I hope to be able to continue.

Previous Experience

WORK EXPERIENCE

I participated in a two week work experience at Yarborough House where I was able to experience and learn the ways of the working world, under- going tasks and assignments that are not found in the normal day- to- day schooling life. Here, I met a variety of elderly people where I was then able to experience the world of caring, and gain valuable skills necessary in ensuring their care is properly attended too. I was also able to expand on social and working skills in which I have to communicate with other working colleagues as well as higher- ranking staff. The opportunity taught me that it is a very different world and that it takes great commitment to ensure that all jobs are completed to full. I have also returned to my work experience placement outside of the work experience as a regular visitor and volunteer for the people I cared for during the allotted time and hours spent there. I have assisted in outings, events and the regular day- to- day care of a varying set of needs for the elderly residents. I have experienced some great moments where I am able to brighten the days of those living permanently within the care home and I hope to be able to continue with regular visits.

Qualifications & Training

SKILLS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

During my schooling career, I have managed to collect a fair few achievements including a ‘Linguist of the Week’ award for German, which showed outstanding- out ability and progress within the subject over the other students in the school. This shows that commitment has been placed in order to achieve such an award. I have also achieved an ‘Aiming Higher’ award within the school, which is given for achievement within the topics of Attendance, Punctuality and Reliability. Also within my schooling career, I have served on the School Council decided upon ideas for the school on the behalf of the students who will be most benefitting from such opportunities. And as a part of a prefecting team, I have served the school in ensuring that high standards are maintained and that all students and staff are achieving their goals.
Within school, I have achieved a year award where I have been given acknowledgement for great advancement and progress within the subject of religious studies. This award is given to only one student per year whilst others are awarded similarly for different subjects.
I have assisted at a variety of school events including open evenings, parents’ evenings and primary school events where I have acted as an ambassador for the school, showing commitment to the school outside of normal school hours. Outside of school; I have collected a wide range of awards and achievements through my dancing school as well as other outside clubs and activities.
