About Me/ Company
Since I was a child, I have grown up surrounded by animals, cats, dogs and farm animals. This enhanced the development of a natural understanding and affection by animals.
Animals can create genuine bonds with humans and from my personal experience, they can understand our state of mind and needs and are an excellent company. Therefore the contact with animals is in itself therapeutic.
As a Clinical Psychologist I have worked mostly with people. Currently undertaking a master degree in Art Psychotherapy in London I work part-time as a pet sitter and dog walker which I find a fantastic job since I can put both pleasure and work together.
Honesty and responsibility are attributes I defend when committing to a job. I work as a dog walker, a pet-sitter and a house-sitter. Feeding, grooming, tiding up, brushing, walking and making company to your pet are some of the activities I offer. I believe playing and sharing affection are as important as the basic needs.
As different animals have distinct personalities, the kind of activities and interaction I create with each animal depends on what the owner asks me to do. My aim is to give your pet the best service you want, for him/her to feel happy and cared.
Previous Experience
As a dog walker I have fed, walked and cared for different sized dogs. I care for dogs in their homes, providing them comfort and attention. I made them company, talking to them, giving them affection, playing and watching tv together, amongst other things they might enjoy to do.
From my understanding of dogs, I am used to take them to walk in the parks and nature places, where they can run and play and interact with other animals. I can walk dogs in groups or individually, depending on the request.
Currently I own 4 lovely cats who give me lots of love and joy.
My experience with cats involves looking after them in their own homes or at mine. I feed, brush, tidy up, communicate with them and give them lots of attention. I have cat sitted ill cats, with diabetes and kidney related issues. This involved nursing skills such as giving them injections, checking on their urine, their eating and feeding them with a syringe.
I usually stay for a minimum of one hour in the cat's home, for him/her to feel accompanied. I am happy to take cats in my own place as well.
Looking after tortoises and hamsters is part of my experience, mainly tiding up, feeding and checking on them.
Taking pets to the vet is a recurrent activity in my work. Hence I have learned to transport, hold and calm them down in such stressful situations.
Each animal has different needs, therefore a first contact with them together with their owner is crucial for me to understand their personality and life conditions and for the animal to start feeling safe with me.
Qualifications & Training
Master degree in Clinical Psychology and Post graduate degree in Education through the use of Arts, both in Lisbon, Portugal.
Pedagogic Skills Certificate, Lisbon, Portugal.
Master degree in Art Psychotherapy in London, UK (on-going).
