About Me/ Company

Our names are Julie and Terry and from September 2015 we are offering a dog walking and home visit service called Best Paw Forward covering Hastings & Rother in East Sussex.Prices start at £10 for walks and £8 for home visits.We are fully insured, friendly and reliable and use an RSPCS-spec van.

Previous Experience

We have 25 and 30 years experience respectively of owning our own dogs and looking after those of friends, and have rescued many a lost dog and all kinds of wildlife over the years.

BEST PAW FORWARD – ABOUT US


We do understand how difficult it is to decide who to leave your beloved pets with, but with a wealth of experience, full liability insurance and a love of animals please consider us and give us a ring for an informal chat under no obligation. You don't have to make a decision on the phone, after talking with us you can have a think about Best Paw Forward looking after your pet and get back to us when you are ready.

Our names are Julie and Terry and we have always lived in the Hastings & Rother area. We have both long thought about working with animals and so in June 2014 decided to start Best Paw Forward to make the dream become a reality, with Terry starting the business and Julie joining as a partner in September 2015.

Our current dog, a black Labrador called Rowley, arrived in 2012. His owner had sadly died. He has epilepsy, along with chronic arthiritis and a nervous nature, but careful diet adjustment and moderating his exercise has, along with appropriate medication, made him much fitter,healthier and happier. At 13 he is pretty active still.

Terry has nearly thirty years experience with dogs, and has owned a Samoyed,a Japanese Shiba Inu and 2 Labradors.Tai the Shiba was a particularly challenging rescue dog who was fearful and aggressive but settled down in time and lived to the age of 16 before sadly passing away following a stroke. Then Martha the Labrador who sadly died of cancer. Julie had Chad, a lively Labrador who lived until 11, beating cancer, epilepsy and a knee repacement before another different cancer got the better of him.
We rae both often busy rescuing animals when we are out and about. Mainly dogs that have escaped and need taking home, but there are often wildlife casualties that need taking to the RSPCA at Mallydams, frequently gulls but other things such as moorhens and badgers too. A badger on the passenger seat that kept changing the radio channels with her nose en route was particularly memorable! We always keep a pet carrier and blankets in the car just in case.

Dog Walking:
Your dog will be collected from home and will enjoy a 60 minute socialising walk, either on or off lead.
Daily exercise is essential to keep dogs healthy, as well as mentally and physically stimulated. Exercise not only improves your dog’s wellbeing, but also helps build muscle tone and prevents depression, obesity, joint problems, heart conditions and behavioural issues.
One to one Dog Walking:
If your dog prefers one to one walks we can cater to his/her needs whether their social skills are not that good, he or she likes a game of ball, is older and likes a slow pace with rests, or just likes a peaceful walk. 30 minutes or 1 hour.
Home Visits:
If you and your pet would like us to come and visit, we offer a service where whatever the reason (work commitments, day trip, unwell etc) we will come and visit through the day tiding up any mess your pet may have made, feeding, changing water and bedding. We will also put out/ take in the bin, draw curtains and put on lights, water plants and feed fish on request – just ask and we will try to help.
• For older dogs who just like to pop out in the garden to relieve themselves or just like a 10minute walk down the road
