About Me/ Company

My name is Jan and I run a dog walking and pet care service in and around the Thurrock area. I am CRB checked and fully insured but most of all....I am a genuine animal lover, especially when it comes to our canine friends. I have personal experience of large and small dogs, and am currently 'owned' by a dachshund who is very friendly and loves meeting people and other dogs!
I set up Barking Glad after being made redundant from the Financial Services industry and have taken this opportunity to do something which I feel passionate about - which is working with animals of all shapes and sizes! I am a graduate of the Academy of Dog Training and Behaviour and am also studying with the British College of Canine Studies, committed to furthering my knowledge of our fascinating doggy friends.

Previous Experience

I have been blesssed with owning German Shepherds in the past and I think they are truly wonderful dogs but I currently own a Miniature Dachshund and he is such a character! I have volunteered at the Retired Greyhound Trust and did very well at resisting the urge to adopt more than one of them. My family are also dog lovers who currently own Greyhounds and Rough Collies.

Qualifications & Training

I graduated from the Academy of Dog Training and Behaviour earlier this year having studied general dog behaviour, puppy care and obedience training at puppy level, bronze, silver and gold. I am also a student of the British College of Canine Studies, having gained a distinction in their Professional Dog Walker course and am continuing my studies with them.

Other Services

As well as a dog walking service, I also provide puppy visits, home visits, cat feeding and small animal feeding. Doggy Daycare is a limited service and spaces go very quickly indeed, therefore it is wise to book early. I can also provide basic obedience training free of charge and can offer you advice when buying a new puppy/dog.
