About Me/ Company

All dog owners know how important regular exercise and socialisation is. A walk not only exercises your dog physically, it provides a different environment that challenges and stimulates their senses. It's hard for humans to appreciate the capacity of a dog's sense of smell and to understand exactly how it sees and what it hears. I always liken a walk to reading the daily doggy news. At Home Pet Services understand that today's life pressures sometimes get in the way, so why not let us provide this service for you and your dog. One good long walk a day is essential for his/her emotional and mental stability. Exercise is a potent stress reliever for all animals, and a regular walk schedule will enhance your dog's life immeasurably.

Our commitment to providing you with a service you will be happy with, and walks that your dog will love, starts with our free consultation. We will come and meet you and your dog and get to know your family, this is important to us. We want to understand your dog's likes and dislikes and will learn about any favourite games your dog likes to play. It is also important for you to feel comfortable with us so, during our consultation, we will provide you with proof of our CRB check, along with our insurance policy and first aid certificate.

Once you are happy that we will care for your dog as if you are there and the formalities of paperwork are complete, the fun begins. Your sociable and friendly dog will be collected from your home at a pre-arranged time (emergency situations can be covered but will be subject to a surcharge) and take them for a group walk (no more than six dogs walked per handler) where they will have an hours off lead exercise (subject to written agreement from you) Your dog will be transported in safe, secure, specially modified transport. We will then return your dog to your home as clean as possible and provide your dog with fresh water. You can rest assured that he/she will be a happy, snoozing pooch until your return home whereby he/she can tell you all about the fun they have had and the friends they have made along the way.

We understand that a group walk does not suit all dogs. Some dogs prefer to be exercised with dogs from their own family, or alone, and this is fine too. We will cater our services to your dog's needs as that is what is important to us. We do not want to put your dog in a situation that will prove stressful for him/her.

We will hold keys for your home but these are kept in a locked cabinet and backed up by a colour coded system for extra security.

We are unable to walk in season bitches but we can visit your home to provide a toilet break in your garden.

Vaccinations will need to be up-to-date and proof will need to be provided during our consultation.

Please note that under the Control of Dogs Order 1992, all dogs (with some exceptions such as guide and police dogs) must wear a collar with their owner's name and contact details. In addition to this, for extra safety, your dog will be provided with a clip on tag whilst in our care with our contact details on and this tag will note 'I am with my dog walker'

Pet taxi

We are happy to take your pets to their vet's appointments, to the grooming parlour or anywhere else they need to go. Your pets will always travel in our safe, secure, specially modified transport.

Previous Experience

My name is Jo and I live in Bognor Regis. Animals, and especially dogs, have been my lifelong passion. I am lucky enough to share my home with two gorgeous rescue Labradors called Porscha and Bonnie. Neither of them had particularly nice starts in life, but they are both very happy girls now, although they do still have their quirks and I wouldn't have them any other way. As you will know if you are local to this area, we are blessed with some great walking areas and my girls love nothing more than exploring the countryside and the beach. Over the period of a lot of years, I've had various dogs, whether they were from puppyhood or from a rescue, they have always been treated as part of our family. Our holiday's consist of dog friendly cottages, long dog walks and generally searching for anywhere that is 'dog friendly'.

My passion for animals doesn't stop at dogs. I have owned a fair few cats over the years too, my favourite being the very vocal, and somewhat bossy Siamese. Of course, I have loved every animal I have ever shared my life with but there are some animals who will always hold a special place in your heart and my Siamese, Gemma (who is sadly no long with us) has that space that is reserved especially for cats. My special place for dogs is definitely reserved by my gorgeous old girl, Jessie (who is no longer with us either) I brought Jessie home at 8 weeks old and she was the cheekiest and most loving dog I have ever had the pleasure to know. We lost her at the ripe old age of 13 and I adored every grey hair on her head. I am told I used to drive my family nuts when I was a child as I insisted that my pet ferret, Lightning, would very much like to sleep in my bed with me. Of course, this wasn't allowed, so I set up a tent in the garden instead. Lightning was happy and so was I. It's been a dream of mine to be able to work with animals and I am lucky that this dream has now turned in to a reality.

At Home Pet Services opened its doors in 2014.

In 2012 I started studying and have since completed my Canine First Aid Certificate, TTouch workshop, Canine Anatomy & Physiology course and am part way through my Canine Massage Therapy course. I, therefore, understand the importance of warming your dog up before our fun walks and of course also cooling them down. The whole subject of exercise physiology is one that fascinates me and I would be happy to direct you to some further reading if you are interested - please just ask. I also volunteer for a number of dog rescue charities and enjoy meeting potential new families for their dogs whilst carrying out homechecks in Bognor and surrounding areas.

I know how important your family pets are to you and you have my guarantee that I will care for them as if you're there. No detail is too small to be shared with me at our initial free consultation.

I am fully insured and have an up-to-date CRB check that you can see during our initial free consultation.
