About Me/ Company

Hello, my name is Amy, I am 22 years old and currently studying at university, however my timetable is very flexible and i would love to help walk or dog sit. for people I l have always loved animals and my ideal job would be working in a boarding kennels. My interests are socializing with friends, swimming, watching films and reading books.

Previous Experience

My experience so far, has been working in a boarding kennels for a year before leaving to move to London where i began my studying at university. Whilst at the kennels, I became very involved with the dogs and on a typical day I had to manage a block of dogs (in the summer time approximately 15 dogs to a block, less in winter) , the roles were walking the dogs 3 times a day, feeding them food either a special required diet asked by owner or kennel food, administering medication and recording it down,grooming dogs, disinfecting and cleaning out new kennels for dogs and supervising work experience students. Particularly I used to be the person asked to walk, a very nervous dog and older dogs, as I am very patient with animals and never intimidate dogs with my approach. I encountered a lot of breeds of dogs such as, Springer spaniels, Labradors, New found lands, Bull mastiffs, Dobermans, and many more.

Qualifications & Training

Along side the kennel job , I studied animals, domestic animals (Dogs, Cats, Rodents) and zoo animals (Amphibians, Meerkats, Lemurs, Invertebrates,Aquatics, Farm animals) at Reaseheath College. I experienced carrying out health checks on these animals, as my college had a Zoo licence and also studying, the behaviour of animals, health problems relating to specific breeds, Handling and restraining in the correct manner and Anatomy and breeding.
