About Me/ Company

PAWxPAW is a cross country dog walking service for dogs in and around the Banbury area. Each weekday, your dog could be out on a fun packed trek with three other new found friends. My dog Luca comes out on the walks too and they all explore, run, chase and play together.

There are three walks a day, 10.30 a.m, 12.30 p.m and 2.30 p.m Each walk costs £10 and lasts for 45 minutes, which I've found is more than long enough as when they're all out together they run each other ragged!

There's a different walk each day of the week and once we're away from any roads they're let off the lead to run and play. I do a bit of basic recall training on the whistle to get them used to coming back to me, but nothing too intense as they're just out there to have fun!

As well as the exercise, just as important is the social aspect of the walks. Many behavoural problems can be attributed to a lack of exercise and social interaction. Meeting up, playing with other dogs does them the world of good and it's great for their all round development and well being.

The service isn't for all dogs though, we're out on long, active, cross country walks in ALL weathers. The only time we don't go out is if it's thunder and lightning as this can spook the dogs.

I provide fresh water for the dogs at the end of each walk and towel them dry (if necessary) before returning them so they don't mess up your home! I can also feed them for you when I drop them back and send you a quick text to tell you they are home safe if requested.

There's enough rules, regulations, health and safety nonsense in human life without bringing it into dogs life's but here's a few rules that I have to stick by to make it fair on all the others, so your dog must...

Be fit & active.
They’ll have to be able to keep up with the other dogs, so no young puppies or old timers, sorry.

Be friendly with other dogs.
There's a maximum of four dogs on each walk so your dog must be sociable and enjoy other dogs company.

Have basic recall skills.
They don’t have to be gun dog trained but they’ll be off lead for most of the time so they should know their own name!

Like all types of weather.
The only time we don't go out is when it’s thunder and lightning, or really hot so your dog must be ok with a bit of rain, snow or cold.

Previous Experience

Hi my name is Ian Nicholls and I started PAWxPAW in the spring of 2012. I've had dogs all my life and have been walking them since I can first remember walking. From being dragged along the ground as a three year old shouting 'heel heel' by my first dog Waggy (a yellow Lab). To being told as a sulky teenager to take the dog for a walk (Smiffy another Lab but this time black). Then as a young adult taking Ozzy (yet another black Lab) out for long walks to help cure my hangovers before I sat down for Sunday dinner round my Mum's. Ozzy is still going strong, but the other two are long gone, which reminds me of the quote "Dogs lives are too short, their only fault really".

Anyway I'm now the proud owner of my own pooch Luca. He's a two year old Hungarian Vizsla and loves his walks. He will run around and play all day and is the most friendly, good natured inquisitive dog ever. He's basically my shadow when I'm at home and he won't let me get within 10 feet of his lead with out giving me the glance! He's also great with my little lad Alfie who is now four and just jumps all over him, tries to ride him like a horse and dresses him up as a 'Baddie' when he's Batman or Spiderman!

He loves meeting other dogs and playing so he's very lucky in respect of my job, second only to a butcher's dog!
