About Me/ Company

Clever Claws is a friendly and professional business founded by Stephen Jones in early 2010 to offer a variety of forward-thinking services for animals and their owners. These services include dog walking, pet sitting for dog’s, cats and other pets, training advice, puppy classes, obedience training and home behaviour consultations for dogs of all ages. Clever Claws covers Bromley, Croydon and the surrounding areas in South east London and Kent, we do however travel out across the whole of London for dog training advice. All of our services are innovative and fun for both you and your animals.

Previous Experience

Growing up, there were always animals in our home including dogs, cats, rabbits and hampsters. Throughout my childhood we owned a Doberman, German shepherd, Border collie and a Mongrel and this ultimately led me to a career working with dogs and cats.

One of my first positions was volunteering for a local rescue centre, walking dogs and assisting with basic training. After a year of volunteering I took a full time position at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home as an Animal Welfare Assistant. During my time at Battersea I gained hands-on experience in many areas including feeding, cleaning, providing basic training and enriching the lives of the animals in my care.

Working as an Animal Welfare Assistant made me realise how much I loved training dogs. In 2006 I followed my passion and joined the Behaviour team at Battersea, with a focus on temperament assessing, problem behaviour consultations and behaviour modification training.

Over the last five years I have worked with a wide range of dogs and cats varying in age, breed and temperament. I constantly seek to develop my abilities through behaviour courses with well known behaviourists such as Gwen Bailey, David Ryan, John Rogerson and Nina Bondarenko and became a fully qualified Puppy School tutor in 2010 (www.puppyschool.co.uk). I currently have the pleasure of living with a 10 year old male Mongrel called Liam, a 2 year old male Chihuahua called Sid and two British Shorthair Cats, Herbie and Woodie.
