About Me/ Company
The Barkley offers professional, safe dog services including: walking, home boarding, day care, behaviour training, and more! Based on our small holding in Upper Caldecote near Biggleswade, we are your dog's home away from home!
When your dog is at The Barkley he or she will be loved and cared for as if they were our own. Numbers are kept small so each dog gets the attention, exercise, mental stimulation, and quiet time that they need to be relaxed and content, in a home environment. The Barkley has a spacious half-acre secure yard (fenced to 6ft) and garden (pictured), with plenty of space to relax, play and socialise, with a summer-house for chilling out in the summer when the weather is fine.

Previous Experience
I have been looking after dogs for over twenty years, and gave up my career as a graphic artworker to work with dogs full time in 2014. I opened The Barkley in the summer of 2014, and you can see pictures of my experience and read client testimonials on my website and Facebook site.
My wife and I have worked with rescue dogs, competed in agility and undertaking studies in Canine Behaviour and Psychology. We have spent years working with shelters, trainers, and most importantly - dogs!

The Barkley offers flexible services to suit your needs including walks, doggie day care, home boarding and behaviour training.
WALKING, DAY CARE & HOME BOARDING
We are licensed for home boarding and day care with a limited number of spaces in a home environment giving each dog plenty of attention, stimulation and love. We are fully insured for walks and transporting your dog.
At The Barkley we always put your dog's safety, well being and happiness first. If being transported in the car, your dog will be fitted with a safety harness and never, ever left unattended. We do not kennel dogs - we give them the exercise, love, attention and care as if they were own own, in a home environment. Our walks are always varied, from walks with lakes for eager swimmers, to enclosed parks, to woods or farmland footpaths. I always enjoy checking out the O.S Map and finding new routes - your dog will never get bored!
A typical day in day care or home boarding would include walks with other dogs in a small group, play and socialisation time and rest periods in our home, as well as in our summer house when the weather is fine. Before you confirm your booking, we will arrange to meet you and your dog and have a detailed chat with you about their requirements, routine, feeding requirements, likes, dislikes, rule and commands to give as much stability as possible during their stay. We are happy to bath and brush your dog as needed.
BEHAVIOUR TRAINING & ADVICE
If you're having behaviour issues with your dog such such as 'separation' issues, destruction, chewing, soiling indoors, reactivity, recall issues, aggression and more.... you have come to the right place! We provide effective long term advice and training (for dog and human!) to help facilitate a happy relationship between owner and dog.
We only use the most up-to-date training and positive reinforcement methods with dogs and are committed to continued professional development. Recent training courses include Perfect Puppy Foundations (IMDT), Aggression Management & Rehabilitation (IMDT), Dip. Canine Behaviour & Psychology. We are affiliated with the Pet Professional Guild and a member of the International Society of Animal Professionals.
