About Me/ Company

My husband and I have a lifetime's experience of living with, and loving, many different animials, but especially dogs. Over the last 33 years we have also helped to rescue and re-home many animals, but again, mainly dogs. We also volunteer for the Newfoundland Welfare, and at present own three beautiful Newfoundlands. We have a wealth of experience in looking after other people's family members, whether for Day Boarding, Overnight Boarding, or Holiday Boarding. We do also help where we can, with Dog Walking, and even just popping into people's homes to feed, let out, or just check that their dog/s are safe and happy, whilst they are at work or just out. We specialise in Boarding larger breed dogs, and have different kinds of hospitality to offer each individual family. This is obviously discussed with each owner thoroughly, along with food, medication (if needed), the type of exercise required.....the list can sometimes be endless! We only Board one family's dog/s at a time, so that we can give them our individual attention and love, which we feel is so very important. We welcome prospective families to view our home and secure premises and see for themselves where their beloved dog/s will be holidaying! Most of our Boarders come via "word of mouth", which is so very important to us, and we feel so lucky to have had many dogs returning regularly over the year!

Previous Experience

My husband and I have a lifetime's experience of living with, and loving, many different animals, but especially dogs.
For 33 years we have helped to rescue and re-home many dogs, some of which have had the most terrible experiences, and we ourselves have welcomed into our own family, some of the rescued dogs that have sadly suffered the most, and have been in need of a full time sense of belonging, understanding and most of all, love. All animals need to feel loved, safe and cared for, but without enough time, this sadly is not always the case.....
We have also worked with, and lived with, dogs that through no fault of their own, have been so terribly frightened or abused, due to previous experiences, and although so very sad, all these adorable dogs have in their own way, given us much "hands on" experience, that most people will not experience in their own lifetime.
Over the years, and again, mostly through "word of mouth", we have helped with the training of other people's dogs too, whether puppies or older dogs.
We try to keep up with the nutritional side of dog foods and treats, as well as anything medical, as to us, this is a very important part of owning a dog.

Qualifications & Training

Our qualifactions are only the ones that have come with a lifetime of owning dogs, rescuing and re-homing, and volunteering for the Newfoundland Rescue.
We do have some training in Hydrotherapy for dogs and grooming.

Relevant Info

We live in a village in West Sussex, by the sea and close to the South Downs. Our home and garden is very secure, with high fencing all around, and quiet lanes surrounding the property.
We welcome all dogs into our own home, where they can live as part of our own family, along with our own dogs. Alternatively, we have stable doors and dog gates, so that we can meet whatever requirements your dog/s might need. We also have an outside kennel which to be honest, is not usually occupied!
When hot, we have a cool east facing yard which adjoins our kitchen, and a paddling pool in the garden, just in case a quick dip is the order of the day!!! We also have air-conditioning and fans in all rooms, plus heating in the winter.
We relish the opportunity to spend quality time with all our "house guests", and treat them as one of our own, and in doing so, hopefully enable you to know that during their stay with us, however short or long, they will be properly cared for, and unconditionally loved.

Other Services

We have good dog transport, so can help with doggy transport, should it be needed! We live in a quiet location, near to the sea and South Downs, which is ideal for dogs, and offers lovely walks and/or swims!!
We have a very good vet, who is open 7 days a week and has a wonderful reputation, which is always re-assuring for families to know.
We have additional help, should this be required, and have a very good Grooming service only a few minutes away.
We are also lucky enough to have a good Hydrotherapy pool near to our home and also sometimes the use of an Agility Course too!
We have an abundance of toys, and dog beds, but obviously many dogs do like to bring their own "house comforts" with them! We are happy to discuss anything with you, and always welcome any questions you may have about your dog's stay with us.
