About Me/ Company

QUALITY CARE, COMMITMENT AND CUDDLES for your dog (s) and/or small pets – Individual one to one attention to meets all your pets needs.

Professional, friendly and reliable you can rest assured that any animal you entrust to us will receive the very best of care and will benefit from our many years experience with smaller pets but especially with dogs which have been a lifelong passion.
Some years ago when working long hours we were to lucky and found a kind and very reliable dog sitter and walker who enabled us to continue to have dogs in our lives whilst ensuring they were happy and contented when we couldn’t be around as much as they and we would have liked. We couldn’t have managed without her and our lives would not have been as rich if we had missed out on any of the dogs who stole our hearts and filled our lives with smiles. Now we try to help other dog lovers keep their furry family intact by providing that same support when circumstances may make the time commitment needed difficult.
Unlike many dog care providers which only walk dogs in groups we are able to offer the sort of service that can be tailor made to suit your particular dogs needs. This means that aswell as those “easy” dogs with no issues we can accommodate too those with their own little quirks whether its nervousness and sensitivity or maybe over the top behaviour for example. Growing up with dogs followed by many years helping and resettling rescue dogs, training and completing a canine psychology course have all contributed to our being able to use those 30+ years of experience to offer quality care with confidence. It isn’t easy to entrust your much loved pets to someone else but hope our experience and flexibility may give you the reassurance that will help.
We have recently added Puppy Socialisation sessions to the services we provide – these can vary in length and will be specifically tailored to concentrate on the areas most important to you, your lifestyle and of course the personality of your pup. These sessions are best started as soon as you get your puppy. Even though he/she will have to initially be carried when outdoors before vaccinations are complete 8 to 12 weeks old is a very important window of opportunity to expose pups to as many different experiences as possible whilst taking care not to overwhelm them. To ensure their continued development into well adjusted dogs these sessions can be extremely beneficial throughout their first year of life as they are introduced to as many varied experiences and situations as possible. I even have a German Shepherd who is very good with puppies should you want your dog to learn appropriate dog to dog greeting etc She is very popular constantly getting “play date” requests from owners with younger dogs. She probably teaches them more than we do!
You are more than welcome to telephone for a chat or to arrange for a home visit to discuss your requirements.

Previous Experience

As all dog owners will probably experience at one time or another old age and illness in a much loved pet is difficult to deal with and having had dogs with various illnesses I have had some practice in dealing with giving meds help with toileting etc etc

See below re dog training and behaviour issues. My experiences over so many years with so many dogs with different little foibles means that I am used to being with animals that are not always little angels! However true aggression is another matter of course but luckily I have not come across that very often.

I have also had lots of experience with small pets too over the years

Fully CRB Checked/Cleared and Insured for your peace of mind.

Qualifications & Training

Having had so many different dog characters during the last couple of decades I have read extensively about dog behaviour and have a huge library of relevant books. I did a dog psychology course too which has also proved very helpful and have attended quite alot of training classes with various dogs with very different characters. They were all run very differently and in many cases I didnt like their methods but it did serve to reassure me that my long held belief that whether you have a dog with "issues" or are just doing basic training reward based kind and consistant training with Positive reinforcement of good behaviour and ignoring bad behaviour is without doubt the best way - See Victoria Stilwell books etc if you want examples of how to put this into practice.

Relevant Info

I do this job because I love dogs and love walking - I am not interested in creating a huge business so I dont intend to walk lots of dogs together. I am convinced you cant give any dog the same care and attention if you have a group of them with you and Im hoping to get to know the individual dogs very well something I am not sure would be possible if I walked too many altogether. I would therefore walk your dog either alone or if you have more than one dog and they are happy and used to being walked together that is fine too. If you were happy to allow it and your dog was ok with other dogs I may sometimes walk my own dog (who is very friendly) at the same time with your permission and after careful introductions to ensure they were compatible. Im afraid I would prefer not to do any off lead free running exercise at least until I know the dog very very well and am convinced their recall is 100% reliable and even then only with signed consent from owner. Other Services

HOME VISITS: If your dog is too young or too old or too poorly to go out for a walk but you sometimes have to be away from the house longer than you like to leave him/her I can do a home visit for you to give meds or meals or play or just company and a cuddle and of course allow them out to spend a penny
Half an hour visit £7.50 full hour £10

DOG WALKS; Upto a maximum of 1 hour £10 If you have a dog you feel needs more than one hour price to be agreed If you have 2 dogs that are ok to be walked together it would be £15.00 for up to an hour for the pair but dogs from same household that need to be walked separately for whatever reason it would be £18.50

PUPPY SOCIALISATION SESSIONS £15 for 90 minutes or £20 for 2 and a 1/2 hours It is important to have a well adjusted dog and to achieve this it is crucial that as a pup they need to be exposed to many different situations. Even before fully vaccinated they should be carried and taken out as much as possible to avoid them developing fears and phobias. Sometimes however it can be difficult to find time to do all that is needed. I take puppies to car parks, supermarket foyers, dog friendly garden centres, walk them near schools when the children are out playing, sit with them near busy roads so they get used to the sounds etc. etc etc I also use my gentle German Shepherd who is especially kind with pups and nervous dogs to get them used to larger dogs. My own vet is great at allowing me to visit with pups just to sit in waiting room and maybe weigh the dog so a vet visit is not stressful for them in the future. These socialisation sessions can also be tailor made to target situations that your particular puppy maybe struggling with which is of course another benefit of One to One care.

DOGGY DAY CARE £12 for upto 4 hours £16 for upto 7 hours and £20 for upto 10 hours. Holiday Care also available but dates need to be booked/reserved - prices vary depending on requirements but usually £25 per 24 hours period (Owners to provide all dogs food)

Holiday Care is available for small pets - please enquire - prices vary depending on species, number of animals and whether home visits are required once or twice a day or the pet(s) are staying with me. Owners to provide all pets food and bedding etc.
