About Me/ Company

My name is Nikki and I live in the beautiful Perthshire countryside with my 2 black labs. I have had them since they were both puppies and undertaken training them myself to work picking up in the shooting season and have just completed my first trailing season with some success. It is so rewarding and we have such fun and they both love doing what naturally they are bred to do. I am a self employed cook and have travelled the length and breadth of the UK, but more lately have worked up here in Scotland in the Scottish Glens in some lovely lodges which the boys enjoy as they travel with me where ever I go and get some great walks!. I have grown up with animals all my life from parrots and mice to sheep and horses, and have personally had dogs for the last 11 years. My first ever dog was a German Wired Haired Pointer and he taught me SO much over the years. Above all things was time and patience. You can achieve a lot if you have both!

Previous Experience

Before I cooked I looked after children as a Proxy Parent for 14 years and with that came pets and general livestock in all shapes and forms! The job was very much attending to both and what ever it threw at you whether you had an ill child or injured animal, you dealt with it. My 'time out' so to speak during this period was to work on 3 farms in various locations in the UK, either during lambing time or harvest, which was hard work but such fun. I was involved with the welfare of looking after sheep, beef cattle, dairy cows, deer, chicken and ducks, and, cats and dogs. Lately I have looked after friends dogs in their absence, help train puppies and young dogs for working in the field, and house sat with pets in tow for friends and family while they were away on holiday. One such job was 6 cats, 2 dogs and 22 horses!

Though I don't have relevant professional qualifications, I have over 20 years of personal experience of being with and caring for a wide variety of animals.

Other Services

Having very rarely put my dogs in kennels I quite understand why some people would rather ask friends or family to take care of them instead. I have done this myself on occasions, but this is not always possible for what ever reason and puts you in a bit of a dilemma of what to do. Whether it is a holiday, a family gathering or wedding, or you just want a few hours to your selves, perhaps I can help out to make things possible.
