Requirements
Dog Walker
- Want dog(s) to be walked alone
Details:
we have a nearly 3yr old whippet x dalmatian. she has been ill for over a year so has had little interaction with other dogs and has only just been alowed to go out again but she has a lot of energy and can easily handle 10miles at a time now. however our other dog cant manage that and cant leave her home on her own.
we are looking for a walker experienced in sighthounds and gundog types who likes a challenge - if daisy sees it move, she will chase - and she has selective deafness at times.
she knows all her commands including recall but you need a firm voice or she wont listen, she responds well to a sqeuaky toy and excited voice and treats. she does not respond well to shouting, hitting or harsh treatment as a previous walker did. she likes to challenge authority and trainer says she has no respect for anyone, she is stubborn and will have a tantrum if has to do something she doesnt want to do.
she is very friendly and loves cuddles, we worked on her not jumping up but has started again- we got her at 4weeks at chihuahua so thinks she is still that size.
she is good with other dogs although may nip slightly to make them run but can be offlead with them and will run and play - ideally med/large dogs not small ones as she has high prey drive. she cannot be near sheep, chickens, cows, rabbits, cats etc
we have never taken her for a walk by herself as she copies our other dogs and will come back if you call everyone else (usually) however she has not been for a walk with anyone else for over a year so unsure what her behaviour would be like and she may enjoy individual attention.
nowhere is secure to her- if it looks secure that just gives her a challenge. she is bright and will try if she can - she can easily jump 6ft walls.
loves running on the moors but must be away from roads as no road sense. pulls on lead but she is starting again to us a headcollar and harness and getting better.
she may enjoy running on a lead with you, we tried scootering and i broke my ankle as she pulled me off so up to you! she is fast and strong. if you can get her interested in anything that would be good - she doesnt seem to have a big attention span and gave up on obdience, agility and tracking and gundog work.
price to be arranged - we dont have a lot of money due to her vet bills but would like her out for around 3-4hrs to begin ,maybe more if not tired after 4hrs, at least once a fortnight.
